Two Weeks. One Team. One Incredible Start to the Season.

Band Camp is one of the strangest 2 weeks you'll ever experience as a family.

For two weeks, the Merritt Island High School Marching Mustangs gathered before the Florida sun had fully risen, ready to begin another day of rehearsals.

They arrived with different levels of experience, different expectations, and different goals.

They left as one band.

Band Camp isn't just about learning music or memorizing drill. It's where a marching show begins to take shape—but more importantly, it's where students begin to discover just how much they're capable of accomplishing together.

Over the course of camp, our students learned pages of music and drill, spent countless hours rehearsing, and challenged themselves physically and mentally each day. They encouraged one another through difficult moments, celebrated successes together, and grew stronger as both musicians and teammates.

Along the way, something even more important happened.

New friendships were formed.

Leaders emerged.

Confidence grew.

Students learned to persevere through challenges, accept constructive feedback, and continue working toward a common goal—even when the days were long and the heat was relentless.

These are the moments that define Band Camp.

The blisters will heal.

The sore muscles will fade.

The sunburns will disappear.

But the lessons learned, the memories created, and the friendships built will stay with these students for years to come.

As we look ahead to football games, competitions, and community performances, we're excited to share the results of the incredible work accomplished over the past two weeks.

To our students: thank you for your commitment, determination, and positive attitude.

To our directors and instructional staff: thank you for your leadership and countless hours of preparation.

To our parents, volunteers, and Band Booster Organization: thank you for the meals, transportation, hydration, encouragement, and behind-the-scenes support that made Band Camp possible.

The 2026 season is officially underway, and we couldn't be more proud of what this remarkable group has already achieved.
