Volunteer With Us

The success of the Merritt Island High School and Jefferson Middle School Band Programs is made possible by the incredible dedication of our volunteers. Whether you have a few hours to give or are looking for a more active role, every contribution helps create meaningful experiences for our students. From supporting performances and fundraising events to assisting with Band Camp, concessions, transportation, and special projects, volunteers are the heart of our organization. Together, we can continue building a tradition of excellence while ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Adult Volunteers

Our band program depends on the dedication of parents, family members, alumni, and community supporters who generously volunteer their time throughout the year. From Band Camp and football games to competitions, fundraising events, equipment transport, hospitality, and chaperoning, adult volunteers are essential to providing exceptional experiences for our students.

Because the majority of our volunteer opportunities involve direct interaction with students and school-sponsored activities, most volunteers are required to become approved Brevard Public Schools volunteers. This process includes completing the district's online volunteer application, fingerprinting, and a Level II background screening through Brevard Public Schools.

To get started, please visit the Brevard Public Schools Volunteer Information page:

Brevard Public Schools Volunteer Information & Application

Once you've completed the approval process, simply let us know you're interested in volunteering by emailing secretary@merrittislandband.org. We'll help you find opportunities that match your interests, schedule, and availability.

Thank you for investing your time and talents in our students. Every volunteer plays an important role in helping our band program succeed.

Student Volunteers

Student volunteers play an important role in supporting the Merritt Island High School and Jefferson Middle School Band Programs while developing leadership, responsibility, and a spirit of service. Opportunities are available throughout the year to assist with football game concession stand activities, community events, fundraising activities, equipment setup and teardown, mentoring younger musicians, and other special events.

Volunteering is also a great way for students to earn community service hours toward the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Many of our volunteer opportunities qualify for documented service hours, allowing students to give back to their band community while working toward their educational goals.

Students are encouraged to keep track of their volunteer hours and submit any required documentation in accordance with their school's community service guidelines. The Band Booster Organization can verify eligible volunteer hours upon request.

Whether you're helping for a single event or volunteering throughout the year, your service makes a meaningful impact on our program, your fellow musicians, and the community we proudly represent.
