MIHS Color Guard
The Merritt Island High School Color Guard is the visual performance ensemble of the Marching Mustangs, bringing music to life through expressive choreography, dance, flag work, rifles, and sabres. Performing alongside the marching band during the fall season, Color Guard members add artistry, emotion, and visual impact to every field show and halftime performance.
Students develop confidence, teamwork, discipline, and performance skills while learning a variety of movement and equipment techniques. No prior experience is necessary—new members receive instruction and support from experienced staff and fellow performers. Whether you're an experienced dancer or looking for a new way to get involved, Color Guard offers an exciting opportunity to perform, grow, and be part of a close-knit team.
Winter Guard
The Merritt Island High School Winter Guard continues the Color Guard season beyond the football field, transforming the gymnasium floor into a stage for artistic storytelling and competitive performance. During the winter and spring months, members perform an original indoor production that combines dance, theatrical performance, and equipment choreography with flags, rifles, and sabres.
Winter Guard competes in regional and statewide competitions, giving students the opportunity to refine their technical skills, build lasting friendships, and perform at a high level. The season emphasizes creativity, dedication, teamwork, and personal growth while providing an unforgettable performance experience for both new and returning members.
